Printers
Professional photo-printer territory — pigment-ink, large-format colour accuracy, with a straight answer on whether you need it.
By Ankush Meena · prices & picks last verified May 2026. Ranked from our printer scoring — how we score.
₹70,000 enters professional photo printing: pigment-ink machines like the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 that produce gallery-grade, fade-resistant A3+ prints. This is specialist gear — for almost everyone a ₹15,000 ink tank is the right printer. This guide ranks the printers genuinely worth ₹70,000 or less for serious photo work, and is honest about who actually needs them. Picks are drawn live and exclude anything currently unavailable in India.
Pigment ink, paper sizes, colour accuracy
Professional photo printers use multi-ink pigment systems and handle A3+/fine-art paper for gallery-grade, fade-resistant prints — wasted unless you print and sell or exhibit photos.
Text vs photo quality
Crisp black text for documents and accurate colour for photos are different jobs. Match the printer type to what you actually print most, not to the spec sheet.
Brand, warranty and ink availability
Canon, Epson, HP and Brother have wide Indian service and easy ink/toner availability. Off-brand bargains can mean impossible refills and no support later.
Running cost: ink tank vs cartridge
Ink-tank printers (Epson EcoTank, Canon G-series, HP Smart Tank) cost a fraction per page versus cartridge inkjets — the single biggest factor in total cost. For any regular printing, buy ink-tank.
Every printer here genuinely costs ₹70,000 or less — ranked for what this budget is really for: professional photo output, where colour accuracy rules.

Every pick uses the same scoring — how we score.
The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 is the standout — a pigment-ink A3+ printer for gallery-grade colour accuracy and fade resistance. The Epson L8050 is a far cheaper photo ink tank for casual photo volume. See the shortlist above.
Only if you sell, exhibit or seriously pursue photography and want archival-quality prints at home. For everyday photos, a ₹15,000 ink tank produces perfectly good results at a fraction of the cost and running expense.
Pigment inks (used in pro photo printers) resist fading for decades and give more accurate colour on fine-art paper; dye inks are cheaper and fine for casual prints. Archival quality is the reason to pay for pigment.
